MONEY – NaPoWriMo 2015 , Day 07

And now our (optional!) prompt: keeping to the theme of poetry’s value, Wallace Stevens famously wrote that “money is a kind of poetry.” So today, I challenge you to write about money! It could be about not having enough, having too much (a nice kind of problem to have), the smell, or feel, or sensory aspects of money. It could also just be a poem about how we decide what has value or worth.

2014 - 1 (13)
it has no roots but it digs deep into one’s pocket
beholden and looked upon like a messiah, the prophet
a precious commodity based on face value
if you don’t have it, life is on the rescue
seeing the world’s light with diamonds and gold
its absence is like a story never to be told
being heir apparent is a luck  to behold
for your riches and your future’s hold
lucky are those  born with a silver spoon
an eclipse  won’t blacken the lovely full moon
but for those whose strength aren’t enough
survival to the fittest will spring into graft
for other people who have a little of the brass
turn it into gold like the magic of Midas touch
sweat and blood aren’t enough for what it take
prayers and luck together are all that  make
if the smell of success is so near to be inhaled
just keep focus, you won’t be counted as failed
in life you have to spread all God’s graces
give your excess to others who have less
